May, 2002 - YAC, the UK based telecommunications solutions
provider, has recently launched a unique service allowing
conferences to be initiated immediately without needing
an account to be set up. Virtually all conferencing
companies require customers to have an account set up
before they are allowed to use the service. Most people
who are prepared to go through this 2-week procedure are
heavy users of audio conferencing.
There is however a large group of people, who are not
heavy users, but require the immediacy of holding a conference
call at short notice.
Access to the service, 24 hours a day, is via YAC's web
site, www.yac.com. Credit card details are entered on
the secure site and a conference can be set up immediately
or can be pre-booked for a future time. SMS and Email
invitations and reminders are sent out to the participants
and payment, via the credit card, will be taken at the
end of the conference.
The service is ideal for business people who occasionally
need to set up conference calls and find the hassle of
setting up an account too much hard work, or do not wish
to pay any monthly fees.
The immediacy and ease of call set up will allow
many more people, small businesses as well as corporates
to use audio conferencing as an alternative to making
several 2 way telephone calls or travelling. All charges
are on a per minute basis, with no set up or recurring
fees and an assessment of the cost of the conference is
given at the set up stage. Charges for the conference
are the same as for YAC account holders and show savings
of up to 25% versus the equivalent BT service.

gains from using audio conferencing rather than travelling
have been well documented, what we have done, for the
first time, is make conferencing a spontaneous, rather
than a planned activity, opening up the use of the service
to a much larger audience".
